What a wonderful evening! The third Klaveraften (Pianonight) featured the Finish pianist Uki Ovaskainen playing Franz Schubert’s Wanderer Fantasy, Schubert’s Kinderscenen, excerpts from Bach’s Goldberg Variations and Beethoven’s Piano sonata no. 30.

Following the two previous seminars on open source software Copenhagen Business School and Øresund IT Academy will host an open meeting discussing legal aspects related to open source software.

Topics that will be debated are amongst others: legal aspects related to choice of licences, responsibility of open source codes and the development and support agreements of open source software. Additionally the Danish public software strategy and open source will be presented and debated. Further information can be found on www.oresundit.org as PDF in Danish.

New book by good friend and author Per Helge Sørensen. The book is called “Spin” as in spindoctor and deals with this topic on the basis of Per Helge’s previous employment in the Danish Ministry of Science.

I haven’t read the book yet. But I am going to. And if “Spin” is as good as Per Helge’s first novel “Mailstorm“, then it will be worth the while.

I spent 24 hours together with a very interesting group of people yesterday. What started out as a very traditional “Business Leader group” (VL-gruppe) under the aegis of Danish Management Society has turned into a dynamic group of diverse people with roots in IT, business, public service, arts, humanities and science that are to inspire each other tremendously. Thursday 23 and Friday 24 the group got together for team building at Helenekilde Hotel and Badepension at the coast north of Copenhagen. Above are some happy faces of VL-gruppe 67 snapshot at the gathering.

Thursday 23 October 2003 I participated briefly in a seminar of the IT security panel (that I am a member of) under the Danish Conferation of Industries.

Like almost everybody else I enjoy talking about myself! Another such opportunity came today when I told my “story as an entrepreneur” 22 October 2003 to a benevolent audience at the Danish Entrepreneur Association Masterclass that took place at the Center of Entreprenuership in Aarhus.

Tore Haakonsson is a friend of mine from the time that I studied at the European University Institute in Florence. Now he is the Human Resources & Security vice president of Terma - the Danish defence contractor in Aarhus. We had lunch today before I went to the Center of Entrepreneurship to conduct the Masterclass, cf. above.

I had two interestings meetings today first with Niels Hartvig (right picture) of Umbraco to discuss open source license strategies with respect to the Umbraco CMS and afterwards with Carlos Villaro Lassen (left pricture) of HTS - The Danish Chamber of Commerce is networks for Trade, IT, Industry and Services in Denmark - to brief each other on IT policy issues in Denmark.

At von Haller law firm - the firm that I am co-founder of and partner in - we have today announced a co-operation with Fort Consult - the Danish IT-security firm that Ulf Munkedal, ex-Vigilante and Neupart & Munkedal - has recently founded. The idea is to provide customers with a single integrated IT-security product that certifies e.g. a web solution from both a legal and a technical perspective.

Today’s good news in my world are that E*TRADE Bank A/S - the Danish subsidiary of NYSE listed E*TRADE FINANCIAL Corp. - will continue to operate as a bank in Denmark instead of branching out of the UK which had earlier on been the plan. I am on the board of E*TRADE Bank A/S.
