The cruel life

Filed under: Miscellanous — mhg @ 1:11 am

I am sitting comfortably at my desk drinking some tea doing some work, surfin’ for a while, enjoying the evening. But right below my desk a fierce and merciless battle of life and death takes place. My cat has caught a tiny mouse. It has brought it inside the office room, is toying with it. After an hour of desperate fighting for survival the mouse expires totally exhausted. What perverse torture. The caught is immensely satified. What to make of it?

DHL does NOT mean service

Filed under: Miscellanous — mhg @ 12:54 pm

I have just purchased at Pixmania the brand new Nikon D40x digital camera. I specifically chose Pixmania, because the camera was in stock, and I opted for the DHL 48 hour delivery and paid extra shipping in this respect in the hope that I would receive the camera before Easter. The DHL tracking service tells me that the shipment was received at DHL facilities 5 April 2007 at about 05:00. So I call DHL to hear, if I can go to the DHL facilities somewhere in Copenhagen and pick up the goods. No, no, that is not possible. That no one is at the DHL facilities until Tuesday after Easter is the message from the DHL representative on the phone. No even on Saturday before Easter Sunday. So 48 hour delivery in reality means 168 hours delivery. What inflexibility! What lack of service! To the extent this is at all possible for me in the future I will avoid using DHL!.
